The Ward Methodist Church in 2006.

During the early days of the Ward Township history, religious services were held in homes or schools. The first services were held by itinerant ministers, who visited the township from time to time. The First Methodist Episcopal Church of Ward Township was chartered May 31, 1881. In 1882, the church, which is still used today, was built.

The cost of building the original church was $1200.
